Remembrance Sunday - 8 November 2020
What is Remembrance Sunday?
Remembrance Sunday is held in the United Kingdom as a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. It is held at 11am on the second Sunday in November.
Highams Park School Principal Mr Grundy led these discussions with a series of assemblies about War and Conflict and the significance of Remembrance Sunday. As you can see here he highlighted the importance of being aware of both the origins of and impact of war and conflict to how we live in society today:
Over to you!
Despite the difficulties of commemorating this day due to Covid 19, we can still do our best to show respect to those who have sacrificed their lives so that we can live freely.
Here is my contribution on behalf of the Piggin household - we today made these poppies and soldier discussing the significance of them for the freedoms we have today. What we made was less important than the act of coming together to discuss such an important day.
Why do people wear poppies?
