Bank of America Speed Networking Event - Friday 18 November 2022
On Friday 18 November 2022, 39 Year 12 Business and Economics students were given the great opportunity to visit the Bank of America for a speed networking event organised by the Education and Employers charity.
The three-hour
event was fantastic - enabling students to meet several workplace volunteers from
the bank who worked in a wide range of roles varying from Financial Audit,
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) to Investment Brokers.
Students
were lucky enough to meet each volunteer
first hand and pose many questions to them about their role, qualifications and
journey so far during the speed networking session. The volunteers were also kind enough to offer
advice and suggest further contacts/training/internships which the student could
explore.
Some of the key
themes which emerged from each volunteer were:
- The importance of developing interview skills
- Finding opportunities to do volunteering and develop interpersonal skills.
- Building confidence
- Developing an effective C.V
- Putting yourself out there and making yourself stand out to employers
- Being resilient
- Staying focused on studies.
- Having a professional attitude.
Interesting fact:
One of the key things which Bank of America are proud of is that they value people from different cultures. Jack Doyle – Environment, Social and Governance stated that:
“Diverse businesses are 15% more profitable compared to non- diverse ones. This shows us that we should value the contributions made by people, regardless of where they come from.”
Huge thanks to Education and Employers and Bank of America for organising this motivation event for our students.
