Kesi Dryden - Rudimental - Inspire Aspire  Talk/Q&A/showcase 26 Apr 19

Kesi Dryden, one quarter of the Brit Award winning, multiple platinum selling band Rudimental came to visit our Music and Performing Arts department to meet both staff and students alike.

Volunteering over 2 hours of his time, Kesi was kind enough to pop into two year 9 music lessons; engage with students, listen to their unique compositions and answer their impressive questions about:

  • His journey to success
  • What it's like to be in the media spotlight
  • Which artists he has collaborated with
  • How as an artist you know you’ve made it from amateur to professional
  • How to keep focused on your goals

The event also involved an impressive showcase of some of our wonderfully talented students from year 9-12 who demonstrated a diverse range of skills through song, guitar and piano improvisation.

In the final whole school question and answer session Kesi further engaged in dialogue with students about how he became successful and the core qualities needed to succeed in the music industry:

Kesi's Top Tips!

  • "No matter who you are you need to work with other people - you cant get where you need to be without it." KD, 2019
  • Core qualities for success – resilience and determination – Kesi  poignantly said that he had his 1 hit song after writing nearly 1000 other songs and that it is important to ".... keep going with what you are doing keep working hard."

  • "Recognise the advantage of being from London - mixing with people from different cultures which enables you to fit in wherever you go"
