Upcoming SEND Department Shine Walk
Shine Walk
Some of the members of the SEND team alongside Norah the dog!
On Saturday 24th September, members of the SEND Department are participating in Cancer Research UK’s Shine Walk. Mrs Neagle, Mrs Shah, Mrs Elliott and retired Mrs Farina are walking 10 kilometres from 10.15pm. Mrs Jackman Hills, Mrs Woods, Mrs Feltwell and Mrs Taylor, accompanied by her spaniel, are walking the marathon distance, starting at 7.45pm. So far the ladies have enjoyed a couple of training walks in the forest and along the canal from Chingford to Hackney Wick. This will be a fun event with thousands of participants. London Marathon
One week after the Shine Walk, on October 2nd, Mrs Taylor is running the London Marathon! She is very privileged to have been selected by her running club, Orion Harriers, to receive their one London Marathon place. “I’m no way near the fastest but I was selected for the commitment I’ve shown to the club in volunteering and racing. This will be my first marathon so I’m very excited and also pretty nervous about it. I’ve had calf injury this year so I have to be sure to train right and prepare well.”
Based in Bury Road, Chingford, Orion Harriers is a long established, friendly running club for all ages and abilities. “I really encourage students and parents to sign up to a run group and take part in events. This is a very supportive club for competitive and social runners.”
Mrs Taylor doesn’t need to raise any charity money for her place but, if you would like to contribute, she is raising funds for Women’s Aid. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Katherine-Taylor37
