International Literacy Week 2022
What is International Literacy Day and why are we marking it in Highams Park School?
How will Highams Park School mark International Literacy Day 2022?
Answer: We plan to highlight the importance of Global Literacy over a week (26-30 September 2022)
We need your help to achieve two things:
1) Celebrate the languages that are used within the families of our school community.
Are you literate in another language and willing to share something of how texts were shared with you, what texts were shared with you, differences in alphabet/symbol and sounds, etc for display?
Are you willing to share your own experience of international literacy?
Click on the link below to find out about some of the international languages which you have shared with us so far.
Please share with Mrs Taylor or Mrs Piggin
2) Fundraise
We are mindful that there are many countries in the world in which literacy levels are very low and this affects those people’s access to opportunity. We would therefore like to encourage students to do some fundraising for https://bookaid.org/.
We will be doing a whole school collection on Friday 30 September 2022 during registration.
