Inspire Aspire Year 11-13  Virtual Careers Insight  with Mim Shaikh (Session 4) - Wednesday 08 July…

Mim Shaikh ran an engaging, inspirational and exclusive virtual careers insight session with Year 11-13 Media Studies Students on 08 July 2020.

Some of the themes which Mim covered included:

  • The importance of being creative
  • Self belief
  • Being open to new challenges and adventures
  • The importance of good role models and education
  • His mother’s long term struggles with Mental health
  • Seeking information about his estranged father in order to understand his identity.
  • The importance of looking after our wellbeing through expressing our feelings
  • Voluntary work as a route to getting you closer to your desired paid work/making connections
  • Fighting stereotypes and remaining true to one's own identity when working in the media

Mim was also kind enough to answer a range of questions from our student audience and to offer them further opportunities to contact him in the future.

We thank Mim for the time he took out of his busy schedule today to motivate and encourage our young people.  He is a true inspiration and testament to how talent and determination lead to great results.

Big Thanks goes to Mr Harris, Mr Hiscock, Miss Seymour- Spicer and Miss Elazoui for helping to organise/facilitate the session.
