Waltham Forest  Football Year 11 2022- 23  - League winners 

What a terrific performance put in by the boys. They’ve promised to bring the trophy home and did so in their signature manner - a drama-filled comeback. HPS were victorious against Lammas. Having scored the opener once again with a tap in from Charlie after a free kick rebounded to his feet, the boys took their eyes off the ball for a second too long and conceded twice in succession and were down 2-1 at half time.

However, in the second half the boys were unrecognisable, they were no longer the same team - they were constantly pressing, communicating and playing as a team. With about 30 minutes to go, Aaron equalised, 2-2, meaning the comeback was on. With HPS dominating possession and shots on target, Demar once again managed to find the back of the net after a bit of showboating and a shot from outside the box. The boys kept very well composed both in defence and attack. With a scare late on Rocco and Jesse managed to see Lammas’ strikers out and constantly won 1v1 and aerial battles. Aaron once again scored and saw off Lammas with a 2 goal lead.

A big well done to the boys for putting in a shift every match and making sure HPS took the trophy home with them. Not only did they win the trophy but did also manage to top the league table - now being unbeaten in 7 consecutive games. I also very much appreciate the boys desire to win the trophy as farewell gift, I couldn’t have asked for more - It was a pleasure being their coach for the past year and a half and doubt they all have a great future ahead of them with the talents they possess.
