“We were back to cooking lunch for the students and staff today and
we cooked a range of vegetarian and chicken pasta bakes with either a béchamel
cheese sauce or a Ragu spicy tomato sauce.
I have to say I was so
impressed with the year 7/8/9 cooking capability of sauce making skills today -
not a lumpy sauce in sight and they were easily as good as year 10 that I have
taught in the past. Fingers crossed some of them will choose GCSE Food
Preparation & Nutrition! Fionn and Alexandria were top sauce chefs.
We also baked up some Cinnamon Chocolate Pretzels - a first for me
too... delicious! The smells wafting out of E14 got all the year 10's coming
in for their lessons wanting some!
Martin was king of the pretzels,
rolling and shaping the dough with skill and precision. As for my
efforts; I need a visit to Mr Pretzel at Westfields for a lesson in shaping
them :-) Great work students!"
