Trip to Parliament - June 2022

On Thursday 9th June, a group of Year 12 History and Politics students visited the Houses of Parliament to learn how laws are made and observe democracy in action!

As part of the visit we observed MPs debating in the House of Commons and saw Angela Raynor and Jacob Rees-Mogg in action. Questions being asked of the government related to contaminated blood, health disparities and ethnicity, and the delays in people receiving their passports.

Even more impressive was the impromptu debate between the Year 12s on the death penalty and whether it should be reinstated. The workshop facilitator was impressed with the students' ability to improvise and the strength of their arguments.
