Geography Field Trip to Slapton Ley, Devon

Visit to Field Studies Centre Slapton Ley, Devon

Our year 12 and 13 Geography A Level students visited South Devon during November.

We had an afternoon in Totnes to investigate the changing use of the high street which involved eating quite a few pasties! The following day involved a long walk along Start Bay to find out more about coastal processes and how the coast is managed. We saw the remains of Hallsands, a village that was lost to the sea during a storm in 1917. On our final day we visited Plymouth and compared different shopping areas.

All students worked really hard to gain fieldwork skills, they often worked late into the evenings.  Hopefully visiting places in real life will help add extra detail to case studies in exam answers and the whole experience was really useful for year 13's NEA projects.
