Kickstart Climate Green Careers Fair - 17 Nov 22

On Thursday, 30 students representing the Making a Change group went to the London Stadium in the Olympic Park Stratford to find out more about green careers.

We were treated very well in West Ham’s hospitality suite! There were lots of people from different industries including fashion, engineering, and energy to meet us. The students were really pleased to pickup lots of goodies from each stall, as well as getting to have a go on the VR headsets and control robotic balls.

Then we took part in two workshops, one led by the National Grid, who provide the UK with its electricity. It was useful to hear how our speakers got to do their jobs and how they had studied a wide range of subjects including geography, science and DT.

Finally, we heard from a fashion designer who had won awards for her sustainable materials. The students were really interested in the materials that she used, especially a top made from milk! They had lots of questions and our host said we were the best group of the day!

It was great to have this insight into jobs and industries and helpful to see how hard each was working to use less resources, reduce energy and promote recycling. It was also the first time that many of us had had a chance to see inside the London Stadium.
