Year 13 physicists attend Cambridge preparation sessions at Forest School Sep-Dec 2021

Three of our most able physics students in Year 13 are attending sessions at nearby Forest School to help prepare them for their Cambridge admissions tests and interviews.

Lois Mayfield, Nicholas Crossley and Valentina Rabrenovic have all applied to study Engineering at the University of Cambridge. With way more applicants than places, they will need to perform well in an admissions test and at interview to secure an offer for a place to study at Cambridge. Even then the offer is likely to be A*A*A!

Highams Park students have been attending these physics / engineering sessions at Forest for many years. Run by their hugely experienced Head of Physics Mr Aspery, they don't just involve having a "chat" about physics. During interviews for STEM subjects at competitive universities such as Oxford & Cambridge (confusingly often called Oxbridge collectively), applicants have to solve problems on paper under the watchful eye of their interviewers. This can be very stressful, so the more practice these students can do, the better - hence these crucial sessions at Forest.

As well as past interview questions, Lois, Nicholas and Valentina are also busy doing as many Isaac Physics questions as possible. Run by the University of Cambridge this is a fantastic website providing challenge for students from GCSE up to university level. British Physics Olympiad papers are also a key part of this preparation.
