Author Dina Nayeri's visit to Year 8 students - Monday 5 December 2022
It was a pleasure to listen to Author Dina Nayeri speak with Year 8 today of her experience as a child refugee and her more recent visit to a refugee camp on which her book The Waiting Place is based. In unison, we pledged commitment to be welcoming and inclusive to all in our school.
Welcome Oath
'I hereby promise to be a force for kindness and good in my school and community. To encourage pride and power in newcomers. To fight shame, sadness and cruelty. To welcome others, and fight loneliness so that we can all be at home together!
Thanks to St Andrews University, every Year 8 has been able to study the book, considering the lives of children living in a refugee camp, and take the book home.
