Black History Month - Daniel Bailey and Nathan Hector - Tuesday 1 October 2019
Daniel Bailey
To kick off our Black History Month Celebrations at Higham’s Park school we had special guests Daniel Bailey (Associate director of the Bush Theatre) and Nathan Hector (Screen and Film actor, music artist and producer) in to talk to some of our year 9 and 10 students about their life journeys.
The courage and perseverance they have is
truly inspiring and their stories highlighted our own values of resilience and
responsibility.
Just a bit of their stories:
Nathan had ADHD in school and his behaviour could be poor, he was also friends with dangerous people outside of school but he found a passion for Drama and went on to college and did any job he could related to performing until he caught a break.
Daniel grew up around violence in his local community. After a traumatic event involving a friend of his, Daniel's mother moved his family away from the area which at the time he didn’t understand. He now appreciates the courage she had in doing that and the opportunities this provided for him follow his passion.
Nathan Hector
Born in East London, UK Nathan Hector began his acting journey at the age of 18. Nathan studied Performing Arts in Chickenshed Theatre 2008-2010. Starting out as a runner on small short film sets to being an extra in Eastenders & other short films. Whilst at college Nathan featured in the first online drama series in the U.K. 'No ID'. He has also featured in other short movies such as 50 Shades Of Tanesha, Will You Kill Me Now? YOLO Therapy, Illegal Activity, Melody & Bluff. As of recent the rising star has gone on to star in British feature films such as The Intent & The Weekend Movie which both hit Netflix in 2017. 2018 is set to be a big year for Nathan with The Intent 2 set to me released in cinema nationwide & much more on the way.
