'On Thursday 3rd March
the Year 13D 'A' Level Literature class headed into Central London to watch a
performance of 'The Ocean At The End Of The Lane' at the Duke of York Theatre
on Charing Cross Lane.
The
performance was a powerful and beautifully staged production with stunning
visual effects and a poignant and emotional narrative of friendship, loss and
the eternal power of the imagination. The students
endured an epic and energy sapping journey both to and from the theatre as the
trip coincided with the tube strikes; many spent upwards of 3 hours to get
home.
Despite this
the students were absolutely fantastic throughout; maintaining their spirits
and thoroughly enjoying the performance. Their positivity, maturity and sense
of humour made them a real credit to Highams Park.
A special
thanks to Imara Dobson whose Jack Petchey award money helped to fund the trip.'
